| | Vertical Blue Line(s) in Margin of Mail - Windows Live Mail/XP The vertical blue lines in the margin of some mail I receive are very annoying. What purpose do they serve? How can they be prevented from being added to mail I create? Can they be removed from mail I forward? Thank you... |

For most people it just makes it easier to distinguish the text they has been replied to and the text that has been added. When composing messages in HTML it is a blue line, but when composing in plain text the greater-than sign (>) is used. This can be controlled using the Tools - Options menu, then click on the Send tab, then click on the HTML Settings or Plain Text settings and clear the checkbox next to where it says to indent messages on reply (or something to that effect). |

| | Re: Vertical Blue Line(s) in Margin of Mail - Windows Live Mail/XP You could forward such an e-mail as 'Plain Text' to rid the vertical lines, and if you don't like the '>' indents either, make sure you uncheck the option: 'Indent the original text with '>' when replying or forwarding' at: Tools->Options...->Send [tab]->Mail Sending Format [section]->Plain Text Settings... [button]->... Or if you still want to use HTML, then you could select the 'Plain text format' (Format->[ ] 'Plain text') then return your e-mail to 'Rich text (HTML)' format (Format->[ ] 'Rich text (HTML)'). None of the above workarounds will be sufficient if you want to retain any HTML objects in the quoted sections though. But some creative Copy (from original) and Paste (to Forwarded quote section) could recreate those. -- Cheers, Peter (Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 with Windows Live Mail 14.0.5027.0908) "There are more things in Heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy." - Shakespeare --------------- Tools->Options...->Send [tab]->Mail Sending Format [section]->HTML Settings...
