Go to Tools, Accounts, select your mail account, Properties, Advanced,
uncheck "Leave a copy of messages on server."

Fyi...to add to Gary's response..

If WLM is used for a Hotmail account(Hotmail.com, Live.com, Msn.com), messages will remain in the folders until deleted. Hotmail
accounts are http, thus 'leave on server' is not a configurable option.
