can not retrieve

I downloaded windows live mail to replace my windows mail. i loved it and
began using. then, a popup suggested i download live hotmail for when i am
away from my computer. i did so and suddenly i had this strange mail setup
that i did not care for and tried to get back to live mail and it had
disappeared. so, i deleted the hotmail in uninstall programs and then
downloaded windows live again. problem is, this time windows live did not
come up...hotmail did. no matter what i try, i continue to get the hotmail
instead of live. so, i went back to windows mail for the present time. any
ideas of how to get that windows live mail again?

Re: can not retrieve

Do you always click on pop-ups? Not a good habit. :-)
Needless to say, you don't need Windows Live Hotmail in order to
check mail while away from your computer.

Try resetting Windows Live Mail as the default:
Open the Default Programs applet, which you can access either from
the Start menu or via the Control Panel, then click the first item:
"Set your default programs."
After a few seconds, a list of programs comes up. Click on "Windows
Live Mail". If it doesn't respond with "This program has all its defaults"
then fix it by clicking on the option indicated by the first green arrow.

Re: can not retrieve

If you are certain that Windows Live Mail is installed, try one other thing.
The following procedure will rewrite the default protocol
assignments in the registry:
Open the Default Programs applet, then click on "Set program
access and computer defaults." Expand the Custom selection, and
select Windows Live Mail. Click OK.

If that did not work either, you will need to do the "Complete uninstall/reinstall":

Re: can not retrieve

Hotmail does not install and is not present in 'uninstall Programs' in XP(Add-Remove) or Vista(Programs and Features).

What did you install ?
