Windows Live Mail Beta Refresh

Today we announced a Beta refresh of our Windows Live Essentials programs, including Windows Live Mail, Messenger, Photo Gallery, Movie Maker, Writer, Toolbar, and Family Safety.. You can download the latest versions here.

Over the last few months we have been receiving lots of great feedback and working hard to get ready to release the final versions. But, before we do that, we are refreshing the beta versions once more to make sure we've ironed out the final kinks.

Please download and install the latest beta, and let us know if you're running into any issues that we need to take care of before we release the final versions.

Thanks, and as always.Enjoy!

Re: Windows Live Mail Beta Refresh

Tanja-

Can you explain the thinking by removing icons in the toolbar and now in the menu tree? The overwhelming consensus in this forum is that removing the icons was a bad design move. Many people submitted feedback stating so. Does this imply that our feedback is really not essential?

Thanks.

Re: Windows Live Mail Beta Refresh

It's good to see the release of this "Beta refresh", build 14.0.8050.1202, just before Christmas.

I had been anticipating that -- as have many others, I'm sure.

I'm still having a problem with Contacts...

I import 41 contacts in a *.wab file and they import successfully...

Then I close WLM...

When next I return to WLM and reopen it all contacts have disappeared -- none are retained.

Comments and Advice?

Re: Windows Live Mail Beta Refresh

It seems to operate a little more smoothly...

And there are some cosmetic changes.

What else?

Re: Windows Live Mail Beta Refresh

I would like to see more user defined options, instead of automatic and forceful options that some of us may or may not
like.

Re: Windows Live Mail Beta Refresh

Agreed. I still won't use WLM for newsgroups because it lacks
a means for rapidly switching between Show All Messages and
Hide Read Messages. How hard would it be to add a toggle option
for that under 'Customize toolbar'?

Re: Windows Live Mail Beta Refresh

It most likely means a few things, even discounting why a beta version was released instead of a final version.
1. A much higher percentage of persons either didn't feel the same or possibly neutral concerning the icons vs a lower percentage
that preferred the icons.
2. It was not high enough on the list of priorities to be fixed for this beta release or possibly in the next release.
3. Objectives for this beta release were focused on other improvements, corrections, features.
