WLM doesn't shut down

I'm running the latest build: 14.0.8050.1202. Windows Vista SP1, with all
latest updates.

Problem: Very often after closing WLM, the wlmail.exe process does not shut
down. This causes subsequent attempts to launch WLM to fail (and those
wlmail.exe processes stick around as well).

Work around: One must manually kill wlmail.exe from Task Manager (or log out
of the Windows account).

Configuration: I have the default settings in WLM, but have three accounts:
1 @hotmail.com, 1 @live.com, and a POP account @gmail.com.

Notes: Not sure what causes the process to hang on exit, as it does not
consistently reproduce, but I can tell you that it does not require composing
a new message as some of the messages on this board have stated.

Re: WLM doesn't shut down

I did experience a similar problem on occasion in the previous beta (14.0.5027.0908), but was unable to terminate the wlmail.exe process using Task Manager. I had to reboot my OS, which required patience because Vista took ages (>10 minutes) to shut down under such circumstances. It often occurred after WLMail failed to connect to a news server.

So far I haven't experienced it in the latest beta (14.0.8050.1202), so I can't offer any insight. I hope I am able to terminate wlmail.exe if it does happen.

I believe that the shutdown bug that was evident in WLMail 12.0.1606 has been fixed though, so the latest shutdown problems are probably unrelated to the previous shutdown bug.

Do you use Newsgroups in WLMail?

Re: WLM doesn't shut down

I don't use newsgroups via WLM, but I see that one is configured in
Tools->Accounts (Microsoft Communiities). I'll remove it and see if I still
experience the shutdown troubles...

Re: WLM doesn't shut down

I've been having the same problem for a couple weeks now. I disabled the
generic newsgroup (the only one I had) and it's all fixed. Thanks for the
advice Peter.R

I have latest build - 14.0.8064.0206
This problem is occurring again. The solution remains as above. Not ideal,
but the removal of the microsoft newsgroup feed fixes the issue.
