Message content disappears when moved from inbox to sub-folders

**Note: Also posted in "Windows Mail" forum in Vista.

When I open (or preview) the re-located message, the message content is
either: 1) not found, or 2) mirrors a different message. In other words, as
I select the messages in the "From" column, the preview pane shows a
different or no message at all.

Moving the message back to the "Inbox" does not help.

Each sub-folder has a different problem. For example:

In my "Business Finance" folder, all messages are the same as the first
received.

In my "Tutorials" folder, only two are identical while the rest say "Message
cannot be found."

However, in my "Subscriptions" folder, all messages appear intact.

The rest of my folders are combinations of the above.

Sent and deleted items, junkmail and drafts are okay. My contacts are okay.

This is not good - I can't afford to lose emails.

Windows Live Mail has the same problem in the Storage Folders inbox
(imported from Windows Mail) but not its own

The first thing to try when WLMail is confused is to reset its knowledge
base.

in regedit,
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail remove SearchFolderVersion (will
be restored on next startup)

I have done this many times without any damage.

Re: Message content disappears when moved from inbox to sub-folder

I found the "SearchFolderVersion" but another person told me to create a new
message storage folder. I don't know what to do first.

Now, in Windows Mail forum for Vista, I was advised to use the WMUtil to
repair the database, but the "Repair" button does nothing.

Should I fix Mail or LiveMail first. Will one fix the other?

Re: Message content disappears when moved from inbox to sub-folder

Windows Live Mail and Windows Mail are unrelated applications.

Deleting the registry Value "SearchFolderVersion" is a simple process, and you can do that as many times as you like, since that Value is recreated when WLMail is restarted. This fix however, will only fix broken Quick views, which is unrelated to the problem you are experiencing in your storage folder.
