    Copying of Store Folder After WML is Closed

    I have the following issue with WML, which recently started. In attempting to determine the cause for a different WML issue, I attempted to change the Store Folder to a local drive versus a networked drive that it is currently set for. After changing the Store Folder location to the local drive, WML attempted to change/move (do not remember which one it stated) the Store Folder to the new location. It ran this about 1/3 of the way before it stated that the Store Folder cannot be moved to this new location. Fine enough, it was just for testing. I checked the setting for the Store Folder location, of which it did not change. However, once I shut down WML, the program attempted to copy the Store Folder to the local drive destination and then gave the same error as before. If I delete the new location and start WML again, I can access the Store Folder from its original location. However, after I shut down WML, the program copies the Store Folder to the local drive destination and then gives the same error message. Does anybody know of a way to have WML not attempt to copy the Store Folder to a different location after WML is shut down? I do not believe this particular issue has been covered on this forum. However, if I am incorrect, I do apologize.

    Re: Copying of Store Folder After WML is Closed

    I was able to reproduce a related bug in WLMail 14.0.8050.1202, by cancelling a relocation of the Message Store during its operation.

    The error message "Windows Live Mail was unable to complete the move to the selected location. Your mail store will not be moved." forever continues to pop up every time WLMail is closed after the Message Store relocation was cancelled during operation.

    Two registry Values that I know of are created when WLMail is scheduled to move (copy) the Message Store to a new location:

    'MoveStore'
    'New Store Folder'

    Within the Key:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail

    To eliminate this popup, or prevent WLMail from attempting to move the Message Store again, simply delete these two registry Values.

    As for solving the problem of not being able to move your WLMail Message Store, what you can do is close WLMail, then copy the Message Store yourself to the desired location.

    Then go to the registry Key->Value:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail->Store Root

    Double click on the Value name 'Store Root' then edit the Value Data to change the path to the new location for your Message Store.

    When you restart WLMail, the Message Store in its new location will come into effect.

    Peter, thank you for your reply. That did the trick. I missed the 'New Store Folder' when looking in the registry.
