| | Message stuck in outbox and then sends twice Messages sometimes get stuck in the outbox and then send twice. I downloaded the latest version of the entire Live Suite that recently came out but the problem persists. I read in another post that the outbox sticking is a communication problem, which I find hard to accept; however, even if this is the case, why does the mail send twice? It is getting embarassing writing to apologize for sending multiple identical emails. How do I fix this? |

| | Re: Message stuck in outbox and then sends twice Do you get an error message when you try to send? If so, right-click on your error message, copy, then paste it into a reply here. We can't do much troubleshooting without the complete error message. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "David" <David@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:6A59B4F6-4E7D-4064-B6F4-0E7B2C37CF51@xxxxxx Quote: > Messages sometimes get stuck in the outbox and then send twice. | | Re: Message stuck in outbox and then sends twice I don't believe that I receive an error message. It doesn't really seem that there is an error except that the message sends twice. I have noticed that other posts have a similar problem with messages sending multiple times. Is there a common fix to this problem? Explain? If you are reopening the post in the Outbox and using the Send button in a composition window while working online that could account for your symptom. Notice that the message stays in the Outbox as well as opens in your composition window. Hence there are two copies of it when you use the Send command, one sitting there ready to go when a Send is initiated and the second one, the one that initiated it. If you want to resend it that way you have several alternatives which will avoid sending the two copies. First after opening the message in a composition window you could delete the original. Better is using File, Send Later in which case the original will be replaced by the copy. However, that can still fail in the rare event that a timed Send/Receive occurs just as you click the Send button. Therefore, the best alternative IMO when you are editing a message in the Outbox, is to set Work Offline first. With the new UI WLMail doesn't support this scenario well. E.g. it has removed the Send only command from the Tools menu. So, it looks as if you would have to use F5 to do a manual unscheduled Send/Receive or just wait for a timed Send/Receive (if you have that feature enabled.) But F5 is what you could have done in the first place instead of opening a message from the Outbox. Therefore, the only reason to open a message from the Outbox is to actually change it, whether to re-edit it or just update its timestamp.
