DHCP Problem

I cannot connect to the internet to sign in with my server. I did a hard shutdown when I was in a rush and I think I hurt the machine. The error message I keep getting is, "DHCP client service is not running on this computer". How can I restore my computer.

I have Vista Business on a HP a1744x w/AMD Athlon 64x2 dual core processor 4600+....1024 MB memory......NVIDIA Geforce 6150 le graphics.

I am mostly computer illiterate and don't understand computer talk very well.

Help!

Start, type Services, OK the elevation prompt, go to DHCP Client and right
click on it. Select Properties. The DHCP Client should be started and set to
Automatic.

C.B. Thanks for your help info however it did not work. I tried several times and rebooted machine after each, but no connection with internet made. Any further suggestions would be appreciated? Really frustrating.

This is not the best newsgroup for solving general connectivity problems.
I suggest microsoft.public.windows.vista.networking_sharing .
