Previous version of Windows Live Mail to Windows Live Mail 14.0.80

The last version of Windows Live Mail does not import automatically the
address book of the previous versions… Any person who installs it thus loses
all her address book… Not brilliant! Previously, the address book was made
with .Contact files stored in the storage folder, sub-directory
Contact\Default.

Nom it's in C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Windows Live Contacts in a .edb file...

Re: Previous version of Windows Live Mail to Windows Live Mail 14.0.80

There still appears to be a glitch present for the default account, even if importing from a csv file some fields(even though
present when viewing the csv file in Excel) may not be visible or require manual entry(e.g. IM address fields).

Note: The default account is only in use if a Live ID is not used to signon manually or automatically when WLM opens.

If your contacts are missing from a Windows Live ID account, then its possible the signon did not sync with the server(the
locations your contacts are stored). If using a Live ID and seeing this symptom, one should first check for the contacts in the
Hotmail interface(then click on Contacts), or go to contacts.live.com, sign on then view the contacts.

If it continues on subsequent openings of WLM using a Live ID for signon, and the Contacts are present in the web
interfaces(Hotmail or the contacts.live.com pag) then the Contacts subfolders can be deleted(they will be rebuilt on next opening
of WLM when signing on with a Live ID). Note: Each Live ID will create its own set of contacts(even if the contacts are common
amongst different Live ID's)

Re: Previous version of Windows Live Mail to Windows Live Mail 14.

I don't use a Windows Live ID (@hotmail.com, @msn.com, ...), I use a "normal"
POP3/IMAP account...

Re: Previous version of Windows Live Mail to Windows Live Mail 14.

Then if no Live ID signon is in use in WLM your are operating from the default contact account, thus unless its fixed in the next
full rtw public version(not the current beta), you may still have some issues with importing.
