search online- no answer

i cannot open the attachments *with the "save attachemnt" in "File"
unclickable (grayed out)*

using windows live mail desktop with a hotmail account
vista ultimate SP1
wifi connection
and no anti virus (NOT AVG nor norton)



i've unchecked the "dont allow attachments...." in safety options
and unchecked the "block image..." in teh same menu
also lowered the safety level to low...

i CANNOT find what is still missing

operating system, firewall, or other software may also cause
additional file types to be blocked.

..exe .fxp .hlp .hta .inf .ins .isp .its .js .jse .ksh .lnk .mad .maf
..mag .mam .maq .mar .mas .mat .mau .mav .maw .mda .mdb .mde .mdt
..mdw .mdz .msc .msi .msp .mst .ops .pcd .pif .prf .prg .pst .reg
..scf .scr .sct .shb .shs .tmp .url .vb .vbe .vbs .vsmacros .vss .vst
..vsw .ws .wsc .wsf .wsh

If it's one of these, you'll have to ask the sender either to zip
the files before sending, or possibly just change the extension to
..txt.

Or use a mail provider with fewer restrictions. :-)

Here's a workaround to use until you solve it:

Pretend to forward the message but don't send it.
From the menu at the top open 'File-->Save attachments...'

It works!
