| | Email as text from Word 2002? After installing Windows Live Mail into my XP machine I have not been able to send a document as text from within MS Word 2002. Before installing Windows Live Mail I had Outlook Express. With OE, Word 2002 had a button on its menu bar create new email. And there were send email options to that allowed sending mail as text or as attachments. After installing Live Mail, from within Word I can only send a document as an attachment. I have checked the options within Word, and I do have it configured NOT to email documents as attachments. Can this be fixed, or is this feature broken in Windows Live Mail? Thanks! |

| | Re: Email as text from Word 2002? Correction: With Outlook Express, from within Word 2002 I could send a document for review without sending it as an attachment. The actual formatted document would be sent. In addition, email could actually be composed, and then sent, from within Word 2002. This gave all the functionality of the word processor to the creation of email. Can I do this with WLM? Thanks, and sorry for not wording this clearly in my first post... ---------------------------------------------- |

| | Re: Email as text from Word 2002? My experience, and that of others as well, is that with WLM set as the Default Mail client, Word and other Office programs lose the menu item to send to mail recipient where the document is placed in the message body. The menu items to send as an attachment remain and work. Resetting Outlook Express as the default mail program restores the menu item. This appears to be due to WLM's use of a different MAPI DLL file. The problem appears with Office 2002 and 2003. I don't' know about 2007. I'm not aware of any fix for this. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "anon" <nospam ok@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:Oe#uqcxaJHA.5676@xxxxxx Quote: > Correction: > > With Outlook Express, from within Word 2002 I could send a document > for review without sending it as an attachment. | | Re: Email as text from Word 2002? I was pretty sure I had this working correctly at one time. But when I tested sending from Word 2003 just now, it sent via Outlook 2003 instead of WLM. This in spite of the fact that WLM has all its defaults. I'll submit this anomaly via the feedback website. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "Michael Santovec" <michael_santovec@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:%23fEaGE5aJHA.5788@xxxxxx Quote: > My experience, and that of others as well, is that with WLM set as the Default Mail client, Word and other Office programs lose > the menu item to send to mail recipient where the document is placed in the message body. | | Re: Email as text from Word 2002? I've never been able to find a solution for others either.....but it works here in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint on WLM 12 and 14 with O2K7 and O2K3 respectively when either WLM is the default email client or Outlook. 2 notes of importance - Office was installed **after** WLM - If iTunes is installed(all bets are off unless the email client is already open)..iTunes installs an item called Apple's Mobile Device Support which prevents the default email client from opening when using another application's 'SendTo' function(the Mobile Device application can be removed, but it may impact sync or recognition of certain iPods) -- ...winston ms-mvp mail "Michael Santovec" <michael_santovec@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:#fEaGE5aJHA.5788@xxxxxx Quote: > My experience, and that of others as well, is that with WLM set as the Default Mail client, Word and other Office programs lose > the menu item to send to mail recipient where the document is placed in the message body. Have you tried using ProcMon to see if the menu is derived from the registry or some other customizable list? --- |
