| | hyperlinks I used to use Outlook Express, and when I typed in a link, it would automatically turn it into a hyperlink. In WLM (version 12.0.1606) that is not the case. Do I have to change to Rich Text formatting and type it into the window that pops up after clicking on "insert hyperlink"? Jim |

| | Re: hyperlinks Hi, Jim. As Ron said, it won't work from the Compose window. It will work for the recipient, but if you want to test before sending it, you'll need to save it to Drafts, then open that. It still works the same way in WLM 1202. RC -- R. C. | | Re: hyperlinks My spell checking doesn't know what Outbook is. Outbox? http://www.wunderground.com/US/Region/US/Fronts.html Using 14.0.8050.1202, the above shows as a link when composing a news post in html and is usable as a link using Ctrl + left click. In plain text post, it shows and is usable as a link when viewed in the Reading pane of Drafts. The same results are seen when composing an email. If composing an email in html, a space after a typed hyperlink changes it to a hyperlink. Enter also works. | | Re: hyperlinks In OE when you typed a hyperlink (or did a copy/paste) in a Plain Text message the link turned blue, but it still wasn't active in the compose window. if you tried to click on it, nothing would happen. After the message is sent it becomes active in the receiving mail program or your sent items. With WLM in a plain text message, the only difference is that the link doesn't turn blue in the composition window. But like OE it will be fine once sent. The WLM developers probably thought that it was confusing for a link to appear active in the composition window when it fact it wasn't so the behavior changed compared to OE. By the way, with a Plain Text message, nothing in the message itself indicates that it is a hyperlink. It's just text as you typed it. It's up to the receiving program to recognize some string of characters as a potential hyperlink and decide to make it clickable. Now with Rich Text HTML format messages it's quite different. Hyperlinks there are explicit in the sent message. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Jim" <jgcraig@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:ux55P6UbJHA.4660@xxxxxx Quote: > I used to use Outlook Express, and when I typed in a link, it would > automatically turn it into a hyperlink.
