| Guest | Re: Highlighting Unread Messages The From field is bold when the post is unread. The other fields are black when unread and gray when unread. -- Ronald Sommer "rak" <rakess@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:HKU7l.30942$701.23002@xxxxxx Quote: > This one may be easy, but I just updated to Build 14.0.8050.1202 from 0908 > (running Vista Home Premium x86). What am I missing? along with the read messages turning to a light grey. | Guest | Re: Highlighting Unread Messages This might make it a bit easier to see after reading.. To remove the gray(read posts) in WLM: Create a news rule Apply this rule after the message arrives For all messages Highlight it with Black It will not impact the 'Bold' in the From field from field for unread messages. All messages before and after reading will be black not gray(easier on the eyes) The same can be done with mail messages for pop3 accounts(rules don't apply to http or imap accounts). -- ...winston ms-mvp mail "rak" <rakess@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:HKU7l.30942$701.23002@xxxxxx Quote: > This one may be easy, but I just updated to Build 14.0.8050.1202 from 0908 > (running Vista Home Premium x86). | Guest | Re: Highlighting Unread Messages I was addressing the 'gray' fields after read to improve visibility. The From field in this beta version is the only 'bold' field. Even though I do use the 'from' field, have quite good vision and had little difficulty adapting...I agree with you and others that this change was huge mistake since it potentially forces hundreds of millions of people to modify their behavior for one single feature that is/was consistent in the past and currently in other available 3rd party software. Functionally the change works, sociologically the change is burdensome and not in the best interest of retaining WLM users or recruiting OE or WM or other third party users. I.e. No use, reduced ability to use other services(Contacts, web interface, Calendar, advertising, etc) -- ...winston ms-mvp mail "rak" <rakess@xxxxxx> wrote in message news ib8l.31723$mE3.27218@xxxxxxQuote: > Winston, thanks for the idea. | Guest | Re: Highlighting Unread Messages I have implemented this for email, and it has definitely improved the readability of the message list pane entries. (Thanks!) I still find it odd that even for a read message, the From field uses a darker font than the other column entries. Also, items in the Status bar are still difficult to read. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "...winston" <winstonmvp@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:uS2PxslbJHA.6036@xxxxxx This might make it a bit easier to see after reading..
