Vista - Sync Windows Live Hotmail To Mobile Phone

I'm curious to know if there's a way to directly sync Windows Live Hotmail
contacts/calendar directly with a mobile phone..

I understand that it's possible to sync Windows Live Hotmail with Outlook,
which would mean you could then sync Outlook with a mobile phone, but I
would like to sync directly to a phone.

I came across the following software called Microsoft Phone Data Manager
beta, but I couldn't find any reference to it on the Microsoft.com website.
Has anyone used it before or come across any better methods?
