| | Re: Can messenger component be removed from Live Mail? Yes, that would be because I am looking at the latest version of Windows Live Mail, whereas it appears you have the redundant MSN Messenger. I do suggest that you uninstall MSN Messenger since you have no need for it. If you decide that you want Windows Live Messenger, you can download it as part of the Windows Live Essentials suite at http://download.live.com/ which is where you will also find the latest release of Windows Live Mail. You should be able to uninstall MSN Messenger 'Add or Remove Programs' in Control Panel if you have XP, or 'Programs and features' if you have Vista. Search the web for "Uninstall MSN Messenger" if you have trouble uninstalling it. -- Cheers, Peter.R (Windows Vista Home Premium with Windows Live Mail 14.0.8050.1202) "There are more things in Heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy." - Shakespeare --------------- "Doofus" <Doofus@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:5B25AC28-FC83-462E-A657-9E460EE02B4F@xxxxxx Quote: > Peter - Sorry it took so long to get back to you. | | Re: Can messenger component be removed from Live Mail? That's new information... In case you missed it, these were asked 4/5 days ago "Which version of Windows Live Messenger are you using ?" "Is Windows Live Mail and MSn Messenger installed ? Apparently the first is none, the second is true. Which is why this response to your post was provided(also 4 days ago) "The majority of the suggestions in this thread are directed at Windows Live Messenger, not Msn Messenger" If you don't need an IM client, then uninstall Msn Messenger - normally in add-remove programs(XP) or programs and features(Vista) If you do need and use MSn Messenger, then if disabling all options in WLM and Msn Messenger doesn't help, then you'll have to live with the current state. -- ...winston ms-mvp mail "Doofus" <Doofus@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:5B25AC28-FC83-462E-A657-9E460EE02B4F@xxxxxx Quote: > Peter - Sorry it took so long to get back to you. | | Re: Can messenger component be removed from Live Mail? It would appear that you are using MSN Explorer, and that it integrates with Messenger. I have never used MSN Explorer, but I believe that Messenger is automatically started (and maybe even signed in) when you run MSN Explorer. Thus, if you want/need to continue using MSN Explorer, you will have to install Windows Live Messenger. It is available through the Windows Live Essentials suite installer available at http://download.live.com/ You should upgrade Windows Live Mail when you install Windows Live Messenger. They are both part of the Windows Live Essentials suite. -- Cheers, Peter.R (Windows Vista Home Premium with Windows Live Mail 14.0.8050.1202) "There are more things in Heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy." - Shakespeare --------------- "Doofus" <Doofus@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:4998604E-60C9-43A8-AAEE-17084DD51B67@xxxxxx Quote: > Hi Peter - I uninstalled MSN Messenger.
