| | Newsgroup disappear! Hello! When I connect through a different ISP or WLAN, all newsgroups from my ISP's news server disappear. I have to add the groups manually back. All my previously marked and watched messages are gone. That's very annoying! Kind regards |

| | Re: Newsgroup disappear! The Microsoft newsgroups remain, which I obtain through the public msnews.microsoft.com server. Only the ones from my ISP's newsserver (news.chello.at & news.inode.at). Apparently they're only accessible through their IP range, but that's no reason for WLM do delete the whole groups. Perhaps that would be work around. However, I don't think a news client should remove a message store just because it could not access the newsgroups on a given NNTP server; definitely a bug. -- Norman ~Oh Lord, why have you come ~To Konnyu, with the Lion and the Drum |

| | Re: Newsgroup disappear! If your ISP news server would refuse the connection when you aren't connected to the Internet via them, then I don't think you would have a problem. It sounds like the news server is accepting the connection and then telling WLM that your newsgroups no longer exist on that news server. You could verify this by running an News (NNTP) log. To enable logging in Windows Live Mail select Tools, Options, Advanced, Maintenance, Troubleshooting. Check the box to enable and click APPLY. Run the Send/Receive/Synch, then click the box to uncheck and APPLY. The logging information will be appended to WindowsLiveMail.log in the same location as the WLM Store Folder (click the STORE FOLDER button above Troubleshooting to see its location). The WindowsLiveMail.log can grow to be very large. You may want to rename (or delete) the current log file before starting logging in order to get a more manageable file size. WLM will automatically create a new log file when needed if one doesn't exist. Another thing to look into is if your ISP's news server supports a login. Some ISPs will allow access to their news servers if you provide your ISP login for the news server. Enter this in WLM at Tools, Accounts, News, Properties, Server. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Phil" <mail@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:#K#rFZTcJHA.4660@xxxxxx Quote: > Thanks Norman! > I don't like to use a workaround.
