bad MS idea

I doubt that anyone at MS cares, but I really dislike having "automatic
upgrades" to other programs I don't choose to upgrade as part of the
installation of the ones I decide to install. Or conversely, that I can't
choose to upgrade Writer and Mail, for instance, without being forced to
"upgrade" Photo Gallery as well.

In the new WLM there are a lot of changes, both visible and in the way the
programs operate and share information with each other. Some of the "under
the hood" changes that were made included changing where some files are
stored and more. So in order to assure that all the programs in the WL
Essential suite would work as expected, then it was necessary to upgrade
everything.

Have you checked out the new features in the Photo Gallery? One that I like
is the ability to tag people in your pictures. For example you can tag Mary
in all of the pictures that she's in, then have it show you all of the
pictures she's in regardless of which album has that photo of Mary.

Re: bad MS idea

Send Feedback...though ymmv on any type of mix and match consideration due to the integration amongst all the Live Essential
programs and Live web services.

Would mix and match and more local control be nice...certainly!

Though looking comparatively to existing Windows and application profileration much more may be involved than integration and
current version requirements amongst the Live Essential applications(minimize future updates via MU-patches/upgrades/security,
support, etc).

Re: bad MS idea

Yep, but the white background really doesn't work for all the photo work I
do with it. Too much glare. But it does have some nice features. :-)

Re: bad MS idea

Thanks. I've done that, to no avail. But I guess it's something I'll just
have to live with.

Re: bad MS idea

Please state your full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3; Vista SP1) when
posting to this newsgroup.

You can configured Automatic Updates (in any Windows version) such that you
must approve any/all "automatic upgrades."
