WLM Crashes on selecting Address Book Entry

    WLM V 2008 Build (14.0.5027.0908), Vista Home Pr V6.0 (Build 6001:SP1)
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sometimes during the msg composition, I would select an additional To: or
CC:. This would make WLM crash, with everything dimmed and a dialog box to
close. I have observed this number of times. Sometimes the content which one
has written in an hour time would be lost. As a damage control, I go back to
dimmed msg composing window, take screen capture and paste in paint, restart
WLM and compose new msg from begining by looking at whatever I could see in
    paint.

My observation is this doesn't happen if I select all recipients in the
begining in one go. This happens when during msg composition I select an
    additional To or Cc.

If above description is not enough to find the root cause, let me know what
should I do next time when this happens.

Upgrading to the Release version of WLMail (14.0.8050.1202) might fix this problem...

Assuming you've already pressed the "Get updates for more products" button
    in Automatic Updates (cf.
    http://img.bleepingcomputer.com/tuto.../noupdates.jpg),
run Windows Update manually and install the newest version of WLM.

Re: WLM Crashes on selecting Address Book Entry

Maybe there is some corruption in your Contact Store...

If you are using your Default Contacts (contacts available when not signed into Windows Live within WLMail), I suggest that you export them before following this method.

    1. Close WLMail, WLMessenger, and other Windows Live applications.

    2. Rename the 'Windows Live Contacts' folder* [by adding (old) to it] in the following location:

    C:\Users\<USER_NAME>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Contacts

Your Windows Live Contacts will be re-synchronised when you sign into Windows Live within WLMail.

If you are using the Default Contacts, you will need to import them from your earlier export location.

*The 'Windows Live Contacts' folder is a hidden folder, so ensure "Show hidden files and folders" is checked under Folder Options in Windows Explorer.

Re: WLM Crashes on selecting Address Book Entry

    Dear Rwilson,

I am familiar with the exact same problem and i believe found a way to fix
    it.
The problem is not related with the edition of WLM at all. As you said from
time to time when you try to add the receipt "TO" after you complete the
    content it freezes completely.

Here is my suggestion; First sign in to your live mail account via internet
explorer then go to the options and under the personize contacts menu there
should be the option clear duplicate contacts. First complete this step.
Then check your contacts so that none of them should contain CAPS LOCK
letters which means "S" instead of "s" or similar. so you need to fix the
typing errors which you have in your address book already.
Please let me know if your situation is fixed by my suggeston.
