    One salient example of just how sloppy these people are is that DESKTOP is
    still in the name of this newsgroup but is now obsolete and deleted in the
    name of the product -- Windows Live Mail.

    Sloppiness of that sort is obviously far wider spread among the designer
    teams and their bosses.

    Once people start posting to a newsgroup, it is darn near impossible to
    change the name. Notice that the only two "hotmail" newsgroups are in
    French and Spanish.

    It's a Usenet newsgroup limitation, not under Microsoft's
    control. It is impossible to change a newsgroup name
    without losing all the previous posts under the old name.

    Changing the name of an NNTP posting group is not a trivial issue. It is
    easier, for historic purposes (retention of older posts) to not change a
    newsgroup name.
