Can't install 14

When I try to install 14 over 12, the install runs properly, then everything
installed is rolled back (with no explanation before the rollback starts),
and I still have 12. I've tried this three times with the same behavior.
I'd like to upgrade to 14, but so far can't seem to.

Can you tell me how to get around this "rollback" ?

Stan Nelson.

Re: Can't install 14

Pardon my silly question.
How do you know it was " rolled " back to v12 ?
Did you click HELP > click "about Microsoft Windows Live Mail" > ( what
does it say ? )

Re: Can't install 14

In the installation progress box, immediately after the install bar is
completely to the right, it begins to move back
to the left, and above the bar a line of words appear that tell me when each
component is being "rolled back."
Soon, the green bar has completely disappeared to the left, and I get the
message that the installation could not
be completed, but with no explanation.

Re: Can't install 14

Can you uninstall WLM 12 before installing the new version?

Re: Can't install 14

I am not an expert just a regular user. I upgraded WLM from v12 to v14 only
a few days ago.
I remember while installing, there was one Feature that is NOT applicable to
a certain build ( or is "configuration" a proper term?). May be that
restriction applies to your machine ?
Perhaps try to install again only this time, UN-check all features except
WLM itself. If it is successful, you can always go back and install the
features separately.
This is just a non-expert suggestion. Don't hold me to it.

Re: Can't install 14

I first tried to let 14 upgrade 12. That evoked the rollback behavior. I
uninstalled 12 and tried
again to install 14, and the same thing happened. I have not had this
rollback behavior on previous WLM
versions. It is a mystery for me, which I want to solve.

Re: Can't install 14

I prefer to post my replies to a post without including the preceding message or messages, because this can produce a long string of messages and replies and can become hard to follow.

This, however, is a preference for you to select in "Tools," I believe.

Nissi1, please don't do that. In this group, and I think most other
busy 'technical' groups, it is very irritating not to be able to see
what it is you're responding to. There are people who routinely hide
or even delete posts they have read, so a posting like yours makes
no sense at all. As time goes by, posts are routinely removed from
the server by date, so younger posts which don't include previous
messages in the thread stop making sense. Of course, it doesn't
matter in this case (although there are probably already people who
are wondering what it was you found), but you'll be doing most
readers a favour by leaving the option to 'include message in reply'
selected. By all means delete any irrelevant material from what you
quote.

Why have you gone back to using that dreadful web interface to post?

Re: Can't install 14

Sorry, please ignore my last remark. The bogus address you are using
made me think you were using the Communities interface, but then I
checked (as I should have done first time round) and saw that you
weren't.
