How to resize large inline photos?

What is the best way to insert a large image inline such that it is resized
to a reasonable size?

Here's what I'm doing now, but it is awkward -- surely there is an easier way:

1) Insert->Image inline (here I select my image, which is from a scanner and
5358 pixels wide -- very wide, but most digital camera images these days are
also wide)

2) That puts a huge image into my email. Then the only way I've been able
to figure out to resize it (eg., to 800 pixels wide) is to grab the top-left
corner and drag, but it's very awkward because I have to drag into the scroll
zone to get it to go to the very bottom right corner of the image, then pull
back to the desired size.

Surely there is an easier way! But I can't find it. Anyone know of a
better/easier way?

(Also I'd like to control compression -- is there a way to do that?)

I'm using WLM 2009 (build 14.0.8050.1202) on Vista Home Prem.

Re: How to resize large inline photos?

About the only other way would be to resize the image before inserting.
Your camera probably came with software that can do that.

And there are some utilities that can can do a bulk resize

Re: How to resize large inline photos?

Open your image in Windows Photo Gallery, click "E-mail" on its toolbar.
It will offer you a choice of various sizes.
