Reading new newsgroup messages with WLM build 14

I have a PC running Windows XP Home SP3, DSL connection. When new
newsgroup messages are displayed with WLM build 14, only text in the "From"
field is bold. The other columns are not. Is it possible to configure WLM
to display all the columns in bold text when the newsgroup messages are new?
This is how they appear with Outlook Express 6, and it makes finding new
messages much easier and quicker.

BTW, thanks to those who offered the suggestion of removing the SEGOE
UI fonts to improve the appearance of WLM. IMO, that definitely helps,
although text is still not as bright and easy to read as with Outlook
Express 6.

We all complained about it, but sadly, the answer is NO.

Hi, History Fan.

Another MVP suggested to use Tools | Message rules | News to create a new
Rule:
For all messages
Highlight it with color

and then select the Default, which is Black, or another color if you prefer.

I'm trying this and it seems to work for me. It should suffice until the
WLM Team fixes this obvious flaw in the design.

Re: Reading new newsgroup messages with WLM build 14

Yes. I had tried that and it worked. Only one thing...... The " watched news
" were no longer in red.
I was hoping that the " watched news " remained in RED, and the others in
black. No dice.
I had to " remove " the rule and leave it blank in order to have " watched
news " appeared in RED.

Thanks for the suggestion. I followed the above steps exactly and
created the new rule. Restarted WLM, but did not notice any difference in
the appearance of newsgroup messages. I even changed the default color from
black to red, but there was no change.

The rule will only apply to newly downloaded messages.

History Fan,
Did you click " Apply Now ", then, OK ?
The changes will occur when NEW messages arrive. Those that were already
there are not affected by the rule.

Right. I just noticed that. I was able to get new messages to
display in red, green and yellow. However, when I select default, or black,
I still don't notice any difference in the appearance with new messages.
Are they supposed to be much darker?

No, I didn't click "Apply Now" earlier. I just did now, so I'm
curious to see how this message appears. Thanks.
