Problem with "Windows Live Mail" stopped working. Need followup he

I did post earlier but unfortunately I haven't seen any response to it. I am
really at odds here and need some assistance if someone can help me with
this. I haven't had this Vista machine long and have not had the need to
visit here before. With that aside, the problem is that when I try to start
Windows Live Mail, I get that window that pops up and says "Windows Live Mail
has stopped working (it is looking briefly for a solution) when it stops it
then says: A problem caused the program to stop working. Windows will close
the program and notify you if a solution is available. When I close that, the
program closes down also. There is still a Mail Icon in the Icon tray in the
right hand corner. It will add one each time I try to start the WLM if I keep
trying. They will disappear if I move the cursor over them.
Some background is that I had installed Windows Live Messenger but
uninstalled it after this problem but it did not correct it. I have my
Verizon account and two hotmail accounts configured into the WLM and need to
get the fixed asap and any help, as usual, will be greatly appreciated! Thank
in Advance for all help.

Re: Problem with "Windows Live Mail" stopped working. Need followup he

Please provide more info
Windows Live Mail(WLM) version(12 or 14)
- Open WLM/Help/About

Deleted any folder in WLM
- Storage Folders, Recovered Items folder ?

Tried forcing a compact ?
Maintenance Tab(Tools/Options/Advanced) set counter to 1
File/Work Offline, then File/Exit

Backed up messages, and attempted a reinstallation ?

WLMsgr will not correct a problem with WLM.

Sounds like you had a bad install of WLM. The easiest solution would be to
un-install and re-install it.

Re: Problem with "Windows Live Mail" stopped working. Need followup he

First thing to try is a Repair Install of Windows Live Essentials.

Next thing to try is a standard Uninstall/Reinstall. This will not affect your Accounts, messages, rules, settings, or signatures.

If those methods fail, I can only suggest a Complete Uninstall/Reinstall as described at http://liveunplugged.spaces.live.com...90CA!226.entry

2)As per desrciption in 1) folders can not be deleted. Not sure what is
meant by the next line >Storage Folder, Recovered Items folder?< does this
mean that these folders should be deleted if available or can be directed to.

3)Tried forcing a compact ?

Do not know this function, compact. Is it something that is part of the
program?
That is, if I could start the program and was able to get tothe file menu, I
would be able to go to the Maintenance tab and pull down
Tool>Options>Advanced, and there be able to set a counter to 1? Then after
that repeat procedure but starting at the File>Work Offline, then File>Exit?

I do need to Back Up the messages but will probably have the need to do it
thorough Windows Explorer or somehow else. >> Please direct me on how to do
either or any of these so that I can assure success without issues... I speak
of the best way to back up the folders and their contents The Four Folders
that I have created to backup to are: Mail, News, Contacts, and Messages. I
can not export as I can not get the WLM program to even start. I will need to
know where to go probably through Windows Explorer.
I again Thank You for all the help past and present.. If I can get direction
on how to back up in this situation, I will just reinstall... DO I NEED TO
UNINSTALL THE CURRENT PROGRAM FIRST? CAN I MAYBE GET DIRECTION TO DO THE
REPAIR INSTALLATION THAT WAS MENTIONED IN ONE OF THE REPLYS?

Thanks again...!

Re: Problem with "Windows Live Mail" stopped working. Need followu

WLM Support
1. Logon to http://account.live.com using your Windows Live ID, the cut and paste one the following urls to your browsers address
bar, the press the enter key
https://support.live.com/default.asp...=wlmaildesktop
or
https://support.live.com/eform.aspx?...top&ct=eformts

2. Click on the first item in the left hand pane FAQ List(e.g. click on How do I install and run WLM for the first time) then allow
that item to load in the right hand pane
3. Look in lower right, click on 'Get more Help', allow that page to load
4. Click on 'Get Support', the e-form will load.

Note..Logging one with your Live ID in step 1 at account.live.com should also ensure that your account's Full name and email
address fields are automatically filled in on the e-form

It would be best to fill submit a report for each issue rather than mix and match.

See below for other responses in-line with your posted messages.

Thank you. You are using the prior version which was replaces by version 14.

Control Shift Esc(press all three simultaneousl), click on Processes, then select wlmail.exe, click on 'End Process' (repeat for
each wlmail.exe occurrence)
Close Task Manager then attempt to open WLM 12

No...it was a question asking if you had deleted them.

Yes, it is part of the program, the instructions to do it are show above in sequence separated by forward '/' slashes.

Can you find your message store(the folder in your user profile) that holds your messages ?

Fyi...you need to copy the entire Windows Live Mail folder. It might be appropriate to use the instructions at the top of this
message and contact WLM support. Note: You will be asking for support on a version that has technically been obsoleted by the
latter version WLM14, thus ymmv.

Fyi#2..typing in all capitals is considered shouting..
sorry.... just was trying to be sure that the question would be seen and
hopefully addressed...
In my attempts to address my problem and asking for assistance, I had posted
this however I don't know if it was seen as there were no replys. I had
posted it thinking that the information may help in determining part of the
issue or possibly give a direction of where the problem did lie. This is a
copy of the info:
Quote:
Quote:
Quote:

>>>
Full message is :
Windows Live Mail has stopped working
A prooblem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will
close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
The following is the info from Problems and Solustion details:

Problem signature
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: wlmail.exe
Application Version: 12.0.1606.1023
Application Timestamp: 471e44f8
Fault Module Name: UXCore.dll
Fault Module Version: 12.0.1606.1023
Fault Module Timestamp: 471e445f
Exception Code: c0000005
Exception Offset: 00037405
OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.768.3
Locale ID: 1033

Extra information about the problem
LCID: 1033
Bucket ID: 549336195 <<<

I didn't see anything limiting the info to give here. Hope this isn't too
much. However, always was told the more information available, the better.
I did install Windows Live Messenger but have uninstalled it but that did
not correctlthe problem by itself.
I don't know if it is applicable to this but there is another Java Error
going on to now.
If it is felt that may be adding to the issue, I will do a followup post if
requested for it. I don't want to overload this post and am afraid I may
already have...
