| | Bring back Windows Mail from Vista Consider it DONE! If you rename the Windows Mail folder In C:\Program Files\Windows Mail, say by placing an ! after the folder name, you can import Windows Mail from the same location in Vista. Copy the folder to C:\Program Files, and create a shortcut on the desktop. You can then drag it to the System Taskbar. If, like me, you have used an alternate mail store in Vista (on another partition/drive) you can again use the same Mail Store within Windows 7. You won't lose anything! I have done this and Windows Mail works fine. |

Have YOU got any ideas? I don't have Win7, so you'll have to test this yourself. Press Windows-key and R to open a Run dialogue. Type this command line, with quotes probably: "C:\Program Files\Windows Mail\WinMail /reg" The /reg switch makes WinMail write the registry keys needed to set it as default client. After running that command, see if WinMail appears in the list of possible default clients. -- Tom Koch Awareness is free. http://tomsterdam.com http://insideoe.com |
