    Updating Calendar Error

For some reason Windows Live feels the need to try and update calendar
events. I have no idea what it is up to since I have no events in the
calendar. All I know is it keeps trying and then says ERROR. How do I
either kill the updating, uninstall the calendar or fix the problem -
whatever that is. Seems to indicate a MSFT server issue? Help would be
    greatly appreciated.

This is the error message I keep getting.

"There was an error when attempting to connect to the Windows Live Calendar
service. If the error persists, check to see if there's an upgrade of
Windows Live Mail available or contact a service representative."

    The mail accounts update ok.

I am having the same problem, though a lot worse. While WLM is attempting to
update the calendar (which I also do NOT use) my dual core CPU maxes at 100%
for both cores and freezes up the computer until the error message finally
pops up. Then I can use the computer again.

AND, the calendar can *NOT* be uninstalled!

EACH time I opened WLM, I would have that same error message.
I posted the question, and this came from one of the MVPs :

( quote ) : " I have also gotten that error quite a bit lately.
MS has indicated that their calendar server is overloaded,
and it may take some time before they get the problem
    corrected.

    Re: Updating Calendar Error

Calendar and Contacts are updated on program open when it trys to sync with the server.

Are you using a Live ID to logon when WLM opens.
If so, and the problem is local corruption issue, one might try deleting the Live Calendar folder and database to allow it to be
    recreated.

    Your calendar store is at:
    C:\Users\USER_NAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail\Calendars
    (Vista)

    C:\Documents and Settings\USER_NAME\Local Settings\Application
    Data\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail\Calendars (xp)

    Hello,
already read in earlier posts and tried this, with a positive result for 1
    or two times.
    After that, same problem.

    Re: Updating Calendar Error

I noticed in another forum that that server that holds the calendar data was/is experiencing some overload issues. If so, then sync
could be a problem for others too.

Beyond that, if it doesn't clear up, it migh be appropriate to initiate an incident report(request for help) via Support.live.com

    Re: Updating Calendar Error

I'd like to disable the calendar. I tried : Calendar > Tools > Options >
    Connection > Stop signing in.
In the process, I lost my Contact names. I signed back in, I got my Contact
    names back.
Is there another way to disable Calendar ? Thank You.

Sorry, I don't know of any way to kill the calendar updating
without also killing the syncing of contacts.
