| | Add my hotmail account to windows live mail. I just installed Windows Live Mail. After sign in, I can see my contract and calendar. But I have trouble setting up the email. I clicked "Add e-mail account", Fill email address, Password and Display Name. Leave "Manually configure server settings for email account" UNchecked. The next form, it asks me Incoming/Outgoing server information. I expect a form with a check box "set this account as default mail account." But I just don't see it. Note: My live hotmail account is not a usual name@xxxxxx. rather it is a windows live account with my own domain. e.g. john@xxxxxx. I am wondering if this make any difference. Thanks John |

| | Re: Add my hotmail account to windows live mail. Actually, I can think of the reason why. It IS because my live id (hotmail account) is not end with msn.com or hotmail.com. So the program think it just a regular email and thus ask for Server Info (POP3, SMTP etc.) So my question is how Windows Live Mail (Desktop) can know my id (john@xxxxxx) is a hotmail in deed. Or How/Where can find these server info. Why can't the Windows Live Mail just use the signed-in account. |

| | Re: Add my hotmail account to windows live mail. The option to make default is available later on in the setup wizard. Can you logon with your unusual john@xxxxxx address at mail.live.com ? Or is john@xxxxxx just a 3rd party ID registered as a LiveID which does not have a Hotmail account but does have access to other Live services ? If you do have a Hotmail capable account with a hotmail.com, live.com, msn.com or partner.com address(e.g. Qwest q.com),then these settings may work If looking for settings for pop3 access to Hotmail(hotmail.com, live.com, msn.com) accounts see this. Hotmail Pop3 access http://liveunplugged.spaces.live.com...90CA!422.entry Note: 1. Many countries have this capability, but not all. see the article to determine if yours does. 2. This is only for Hotmail accounts. For others contact the provider(Google, Yahoo, your isp, etc) 3. 3rd Party registered Live ID normally do not have a Hotmail account, thus do not work. -- ...winston ms-mvp mail "Q.
