| | still no manual rule application For mail rules at least. It goes through all the right motions even showing a progress bar but when all is said and done, nothing is actually done. Rules are applied just fine on incoming mail but if a new rules is created meaning to apply manually to do the initial footwork, the target messages remain in their original respective locations and must be moved manually via drag and drop method. |

| | Re: still no manual rule application The bug from version 12 is still in version 14. I reported the bug June 1, 2008 (Support Ticket Number: 1068905331) which was supposedly passed to the developers, but apparently it was ignored. BUG: When Manually applying a mail Message Rule criteria Where From Contains 'X'. A From header can be of two forms: 1) From: Name <e-mail address> 2) From: e-mail address When Manually applied, the rule does NOT check the e-mail address in form #1 within the < >. It will match the e-mail address in form #2. And it will match if checking for Name. The rule works perfectly when automatically applied to incoming POP3 message. It will match on the e-mail address in the <>. The bug just appears to be with the From header. Testing on the To and Cc headers when Manually applying rules works fine. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "The Taibi's" <taibi3@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:O8LFsPelJHA.1168@xxxxxx Quote: > For mail rules at least. | | Re: still no manual rule application Very thorough! Thanks for the detailed explanation. One would think after being supplied with such a precise description, the bug would have been vanquished by now! "Photojojo" <click@xxxxxx> I can key the rule to move the message to the photojojo folder if the from line contains click@xxxxxx or photojojo (The previous is the default as created from the original message.) or I can try what everyone here is saying and key it off of the from line simply containing photojojo Neither of these cause the message to move to the specified folder when the rule is applied manually even though both cause the progress bar to pop up and move along ending with the program proclaiming the rule has been applied. |

| | Re: still no manual rule application Resolved. Operator error really but I finally caught something that was right under my nose all along. Seems rules are applied to the inbox by default when applied on incoming from the POP3 server but when one applies a rule manually there is a drop down that needs you to specify the folder and it was defauled to the storage folders. Once I clicked browse and pointed it to the inbox everything worked perfectly. So, don't know why I missed it that many times or why it would default to the storage folders but there it was. Thanks to everyone who jumped in and helped!
