Can I downgrade my copy of Windows Live Mail

Hello All -

I'm currently using WLM - ver 14.08064.0206.
I don't recall the version I was using previously ( but I do know it was a
earlier version than the .0206 release).

I had to reformat my PC (running Windows Vista Business Edition). I then
downloaded the newest WLM and imported my
emails into it (including GMAIL - IMAP).

My PC isn't the fastest one on the block but it's a core 2 duo with 3 gigs
of ram, plenty of HDD space and again a fresh install of
Vista.
Perhaps it's me, but I find the new version of Windows Live Mail to be
sluggish, in deleting emails, opening them, etc.

So , is it possible to "downgrade" to the earlier version of WLM and import
my emails into that?

Thanks in advance

Re: Can I downgrade my copy of Windows Live Mail

In my experience, IMAP is always more sluggish than POP,
which is why I don't use available IMAP accounts.
I would not recommend going back to a previous version
of WLM. The latest (14.) versions made some structural changes
under the hood, which are likely to cause problems with a 12.
build of WLM, if you could find one to download.

Can you define "sluggish"? Is it when you are downloading many email messages or large email messages or something else?
I'm trying to sync up several accounts with folders (not on multiple computers or locations) and when I create a folder on my
computer's email program I want that mirrored on my webmail interface.

Sluggish - as in clicking on a email, there's a really annoy delay (which I
didn't experience in WLM 12).

If I do decide to keep the current version of WLM is it possible to have
GMAIL as a pop account as opposed to IMAP?

Yes you can set up a Gmail account to use POP access instead of IMAP.
Just make sure you have POP3 turned on in Gmail, then when you set up
your GMail account in WLM select POP instead of IMAP.

Unless you want the email removed from the Gmail account, don't forget to
'Leave a copy on the server' in Tools, Accounts, Properties, Advanced.

Re: Can I downgrade my copy of Windows Live Mail

Thanks for the advice.
I changed the settings from IMAP to POP.
WLM runs a lot better now.

Thanks !
