Rules for Email <Windows Vista Home Premium, 6.0 >

My objective is to direct incoming emails from certain parties into specified
folders.
The 'rules' I had initially set up in MSN Hotmail transfered over to WLM,
but I'm having trouble setting up new ones.

I found Message Rules under Tools, but none of the filters I created are
working.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Rules in WLM do not apply to Hotmail accounts.
You must login to Hotmail and make your rules there.
Changes that you make when logged in will show up in WLM.

As others have already indicated, the local message rules only work
with POP accounts. If you want, you can set up your Hotmail as a POP
account:

Re: Rules for Email <Windows Vista Home Premium, 6.0 >

But...if rules are in place in the web UI to move messages to web folders, those web move rules to folders may prevent all mail
being delivered, nor will the web folders be available locally...thus proceed with caution or ensure that Hotmail web UI message
move rules are disabled of deleted.

I.e.. You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes you just might find, you get what you need

Re: Rules for Email <Windows Vista Home Premium, 6.0 >

I'm not that familiar with Hotmail features, but I understand WLM's message rules
are more powerful and flexible than the ones available on the web UI.

Re: Rules for Email <Windows Vista Home Premium, 6.0 >

Yes...They are...but if messages are moved to folders by Hotmail they will not be in the Inbox thus delivered locally to WLM when
popped.
