| | Common Inbox for all mail accounts Hello NG, how can I configure opne inbox for all my email-Accounts? Like in Windows Mail (Vista) I have about 8 email-accounts and don't want to select each inbox in every account... That seems to be very unuseful for mutliple email accounts. Is there a solution? If I move the "Storage folders" and "Outbox" over the accounts and restart Live Mail, theese folders are reseted to there first state. How can I fix that? So that theese folders will be in there place where I moved them to? Thomas |

| | Re: Common Inbox for all mail accounts Storage Folders will not stay high up in the folder tree. Why do you need that? Simply do all your message reading in the Quick View folder "All Inbox". Alternatively, you can make the topmost account folder your collective folder by making a new sub-folder in it, (call it something like 'Incoming'), then set up a message rule to divert all incoming mail to that folder. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "Thomas Steinbach" <steinbach@xxxxxx-topmail.de> wrote in message news:goc9fm$usd$00$1@xxxxxx-online.com... Would be good if the developers implement a more flexible cusomization of such views. In a way that a customer like me can have a layout like in WMail or OE. And if they do that, they should think about the quick view items which can't be unchecked? Why? I don't want to see "All news" in the Newsgroups view (or unread email in the Mail view), but would like to see all outbox, all drafts, all send, all deleted, all inbox of my emails together with the newsgroups. First the mail part, and then the news part. Why I have to switch? That isn't a good solution. Quote: > Why do you need that? And this is very important - I can't fast access/see the Outbox folder with just one sight or have to scroll again... Would be good to see all togehter - Email and News. Like in Windows Mail or Outlook Express (or custimizable to get that layouts. The Problem ist that OE doesn't run on Vista. btw: Why? And Windows Mail has problems to handle my mail storage. Perhaps it depends on the big size of the storage (~3GB) (mail and news). And it seems that the developer won't longer maintain Windows Mail or provide bugfixes. At least for this comapcat storage bug (still exist on vista sp1) ... :-( Quote: > Alternatively, you can make the topmost account folder > your collective folder by making a new sub-folder in it, > (call it something like 'Incoming'), then set up a message > rule to divert all incoming mail to that folder. And additionally the topmost account folder will changing, and then I have to scroll again or rewirte all mail rules.... hmmm - will see. Hope the next version is more flexible to customize. And would be good if a user can blend all the mail accounts out. Thomas |

| | Re: Common Inbox for all mail accounts just move the pointer over the quick views folder, it will list all the contents of all the inboxes. you can change the view to hide read messages (alt-view\show or hide) you can also delete all the quick views subfolders except the un-read e-mail subfolder "Thomas Steinbach" <steinbach@xxxxxx-topmail.de> wrote in message news:goc9fm$usd$00$1@xxxxxx-online.com... | | Re: Common Inbox for all mail accounts At this stage I am not sure I would expect too much going forward in making WLM work and function like WM or OE...both of which are no longer being developed. Fyi...OE doesn't run on Vista because OE is included in IE6 which was included with XP(or was available on an earlier o/s via IE4 or updated by a later IE installation). Vista by default provides IE7. IE7 does not include OE. Concerning one set of folders for each email account(how WM or OE did it)....likewise(a return to the old method seems unlikely).....and don't discount that a large part of WLM's focus is towards the ability to setup multiple Hotmail accounts which mirrors the same folders on the web server and the inherent separation to ensure that mail incoming and outgoing is received and sent from the correct account. The best way to request feature changes in WLM is to use the Feedback option(Open WLM/Click Help/Send Feedback) -- ...winston ms-mvp mail "Thomas Steinbach" <steinbach@xxxxxx-topmail.de> wrote in message news:gocdtm$n2a$01$1@xxxxxx-online.com... | | Re: Common Inbox for all mail accounts George, I have the same problem as Thomas had - I have 2 accounts and would like to only have one 'in' box, one 'out' box, etc. I saw your solution, but I must not have the knowledge necessary - I don't understand what you are suggesting. What do you mean by "alt-view\layout\folder options [x[ show quick views"? I don't know what to do with that instruction. Thank you "George Valenti" wrote: Quote: > alt-view\layout\folder options [x] show quick views > > "Thomas Steinbach" <steinbach@xxxxxx-topmail.de> wrote in message > news:goc1mc$dkh$03$3@xxxxxx-online.com...
