blocked & safe senders

I want to know how to save my safe & blocked senders lists. I synced my
account by pressing control/F5. If I restore my OS will these lists be saved
somewhere because the only other option is to save it in the registry.

I'm not quite sure I understand what you're attempting to accomplish
here. For starters, when you add or remove an entry in your safe or
blocked senders lists it's automatically saved once you click ok and are
back in WLM. Pressing CTRL-F5 just checks all of your email and
newsgroup accounts and downloads new messages or headers and sends any
messages that may be in the outbound box.

Next you talk about restoring your OS. Are you talking about
reinstalling Windows?

Re: blocked & safe senders

Let me try and make this clear. I want to back up my safe & blocked senders
lists so that if I ever have to restore my OS (Vista) I will have them saved.
I know how to back vit up in the registry but I understand that by signing
into your WLM account that there is a way to back them up. I hope this is
clear enough.

Ok, now I understand... You could use this program called Static Windows
Live Mail Backup which is available at this web site:
http://www.staticbackup.com/downloads.htm. There is a free version
there along with a paid version. The free version doesn't have some
features of the pay version, but it will allow to you backup your WLM
settings, rules, messages.. etc.

Re: blocked & safe senders

That's a fine program but I already know how to back up everything but the
safe & blocked senders list and I don't think that program does that. It's my
understanding that when you sign in to WLM there is a way to save your S & B
lists. Do you know how that's done?

Re: blocked & safe senders

You sign into Windows Live, not WLM.
In XP, HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Live
Mail\PerPassportSettings\0\Junk Mail
If the backup program is getting all of the settings under
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail, then Safe And
Blocked Senders would be included.

It does backup everything, including the safe & blocked senders lists.
I have 3 pc's, 2 run Windows XP and the other is on Vista Home Basic and
all three are setup to dual boot Windows 7. Windows Live Essentials is
on all the various versions of Windows that I use. After reading mail &
newsgroups on one pc, I'll make a backup. Then no matter which pc or
version of Windows I use, I'll do a restore and that WLM will be as if I
had been using it all along even though it is a different one.

Re: blocked & safe senders

If you use WLM's Live ID sign-in feature, it syncs all your contacts
and blocked/safe senders lists to the web server for that Live ID.
So, if you ever need to reinstall the OS or WLM, all those items will be
restored automatically.

I did that Gary but when I reinstalled my OS the other day all the S & B

Re: blocked & safe senders

Did you go to your Live ID on the web to see if the Safe & Blocked
Senders lists are there?
All I can say is that when I go to my Live ID on the web (http://mail.live.com),
all the Safe & Blocked Senders that I entered in WLM are there.
Perhaps someone else can give us a scenario of how the sync feature
of the Live ID sign-in can fail to work.
