Removing attachments from WLM sent emails

In outlook there is an option to remove attachments from sent mail whilst
keeping the email. You open the email, right click the attachment and
    select "Remove".

In WLM the "Remove" option is there but greyed out. Any suggestions how I
    can get it back please?

WLM does not have that feature.

That Remove option only works in WLM while composing a message.

Unfortunately, Windows Live Mail doesn't provide any means to remove an
attachment from a sent or received message. There are several
    workarounds:
1 - Forward the message to yourself, but Remove the attachments from
the composition window (right click on the attachment icon) before
sending. However, this will alter the sender's name and the date/time
    received.
2 - If you are familiar with the way attachments are encoded in a mail
message, you can manually edit the message source.
    - Do a File, Save As to save the message to an *.EML file, or
drag-and-drop the message to a Windows folder
    - Then edit the file in Notepad or other text editor. For some
information on the formatting of attachments, see
    http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/decode.htm
    - Save the file
    - You can drag-and-drop the message back to an WLM folder. Or you can
double click the saved file from the Windows File Explorer. It will
open in a mail window. You can then select File, Copy to folder.
    - You can then delete the original message.

Thanks that's a handy tip. Now, has anyone written a programme to do that
automatically? I suppose I could move back to Outlook - can't even remember
why I went back to outlook express and then moved to WLM. Perhaps it used
    less resources?

Why don't you just click on Forward, remove the attachment and save it as a
    draft?

You could possibly use this program to do that
    http://www.oehelp.com/DBXtend/Default.aspx

It was written for Outlook Express. It can process EML files to remove
attachments. So you could save an WLM message to EML file, process it
with DBXtend and then drag the results back. Potentially you could even
apply it to the underlying EML files WLM uses for storage. USE AT YOUR
    OWN RISK.

You don't need another program. Just do like I said in my other post.
Click on Forward, remove the attachment, save it as a draft and then click
on Move To and move it to whatever other folder you want. It works, I've
done it. At least to me it's better than installing another program.

The disadvantage of that is that the FROM and DATE/TIME on the message
no longer are correct. The FROM will show as you and the DATE/TIME will
be when you did the forward.

If you forward and don't delete any of the header information, the from will
remain with the e-mail. The only thing that is incorrect is the date/time,
but if it's that important, that can be annotated in the message, no?
