Why does internet connection wizard start when I open WLM 14.0.805

Why does internet connection wizard start when I open WLM 14.0.805

Since upgrading to WLM 14.0.8050.1202, every time I start it I get a dialog
box asking for a display name. If I do enter a display name and follow with
my @msn.com email address I get the message "Information about Http email"
saying "Windows Mail no longer supports Http acounts like Hotmail..Click Back
to setup a different email account or (link to) 'find other options for
    accessing your web-based email.' "
The link takes me to the MS support webpage explaining this difference
between WM and WLM in more detail and says to use WLM.
When I hit "Cancel" I get a message from "Internet Connection Wizard'"
asking "Are you sure you want to exit the wizard? The new internet account
    has not been created yet."
I hit "Yes" and WLM 14 continues to start and run as normal.
I do not use Windows Mail as i prefer Windows Live Mail which does work with
    my webmail accounts.
How can I disable this Wizard?
    I use a Dell inspiron 1501 laptop.
    Vista Home Premium SP1

    Hi, 2468Ten.

Rather than try to solve your questions with build 1202, it might be better
for you to download and install build 14.0.8064.0206, released in February,
and see how many questions remain after you install and run that.

To get the latest WLMail - and as many other of the Windows Live Essentials
as you want - just go to:
    http://download.live.com/wlmail

Some users prefer prior editions, but give the new one a try and see what
you think. Then come back with any further questions or problems.

How are you starting WLM ?
Is WLM configured to logon to Messenger at startup ?
Check your Connection settings in IE or your browser.

    Thank you, RC, for responding.
However I Downloaded and installed new version 14.0.8064.0206 as suggested,
But I am still getting the same Internet connection wizard asking to set up
an account when i open WLMail.
Any other suggestions? is there a way to uninstall or fully disable Windows
    Mail.

Re: Why does internet connection wizard start when I open WLM 14.0.805

Something is causing Windows Mail to run instead of WLM.
Make sure WLM has all its defaults:
Open the Default Programs applet, which you can access either from
the Start menu or via the Control Panel, then click the first item:
    "Set your default programs."
After a few seconds, a list of programs comes up. Click on "Windows
Live Mail". If it doesn't respond with "This program has all its defaults"
then fix it by clicking on the option indicated by the first green arrow.

Re: Why does internet connection wizard start when I open WLM 14.0

I checked the program defaults and it took a few attempts to get the settings
corrected. I approached 'Internet Options' and 'program default' settings
through WLMail and then again through control panel and also IE7 internet
options. and I disabled access to WMail.. once i had the settings
straightened the same dialog box apeared when i opened WLMail. however, this
time i was able to complete the account setup using my Yahoo mail account.
    and that worked.
when i first tried to go through the internet connection setup i used my
hotmail (msn.com) and the message explained that WMail was unable to work
with the hotmail accounts. Thanks, RC the new 14.0.8084.0206 build works for
me, i like that it incorporates the calendar in the WLMail app.
and thanks to Winston and Gary for helping with the solution. the two
programs seemed to be interacting badly.
    thanks again,
    2468ten
