.pps file attachments

I have MS Windows PowerPoint Viewer but Emails with .pps files don't open
automatically as they did when I bought this laptop. It had a trial version
of MS Office for which I have no use and allowed it to expire. It's too
damned expensive and I prefer Corel Word Perfect. Open Office 3 is a poor
substitute and it takes too long to play with to get to see the presentation.
Microsoft should have a complete array of software incumbent with its
Windows Live Mail program.
