Earlier I tried to reply to an email, but the message failed to be sent. Now
I cannot even open the desktop client. I click on the icon, but WLM fails to
open. Is the problem on my end or yours? Thanks

This is strictly a volunteer group, not a hot line to Microsoft. The first
thing I do when this sort of thing happens, is log on to the Hotmail portal
to make sure my account is functional. You can find out right away if it is
problem on your end or on theirs.

In a search for Windows Live Mail support, I was sent here. I didn't expect
the snarky reply. Maybe you should volunteer to shove it.

Atta-boy Dave,
Sure makes a person appreciate the other MSFT Community forums that are
"Strictly Volunteer" but sure don't stoop to that level of rudeness.
Sounds like someone needs an attitude adjustment.

There is a huge problem "Earle" hundreds and hundreds of customers have been
unable access their emails since Live Mail started...the problem is definetly
on your end and there have been no answers, people are panicking and very
pissed!!!! can you advise "Earle"?

That's hardly a "snarky" reply... just stick around for a while ;-)
Since WLM is a desktop program, and it won't open, then it's on your end.
Check to see if WLM is still running by opening Task Manager (right-click on
the Taskbar and select Start Task Manager) . On the Processes tab, see if
wlmail.exe is still running. If it is, highlight it and click on End
Process.
Now try to open WLM.

It's not on Earle's end...
Earle is just a user, like you and me.
MSFT had problems last night, I don't know about today.

It's a trick to keep you from using the real Customer Support, and them
having to pay employees to help you with your problem. Really, this is not
part of Windows Live Mail support.
You could try calling 1-800-EAT-****. Now would a real Microsoft employee
tell you that?

I have been getting mail just fine all day. These fellows should try
contacting the real Windows Live Mail support. Hint--This newsgroup is not
it.

Another Dave to the rescue. You not only solved my WLM problem, you taught
