Slow on startup, to read email, to check email, anything really

Hi.
I had outlook express and i loved it, and then it started not allowing me to
change fonts, and it went all winky.
people here told me to switch to 'Windows Live Mail', so I did and it's
driving me insane.

I have 5 email accounts hooked up onto it, NO rss feeds, no communities, the
log on thing is off, i have nothing extra.

When I first load it, it takes a good minute to open, once it finally opens
it will 'freeze' on a section, finally get to the section, and when i click
on an email to open it, it 'freezes' again, and after a minute or two it
finally shows it.
Even something like a facebook message which is what? 2 kb? takes a good
30-60 seconds to open.

My PC is an HP, quad core, 2 gb ram, vista, 2.4 ghZ

What can I do cause this is driving me NUTS!!!!

thanks if anyone has any suggestions!

aj

Re: Slow on startup, to read email, to check email, anything reall

8 seconds is great, too bad mine takes 7.5 times longer minimum!

Re: Slow on startup, to read email, to check email, anything reall

Something else must be involved(AV, other background apps etc) besides hardware, memory, and speed since the system for those specs
is over 6 yrs old and yours by design should be much faster and responsive.

As a comparison(not equal) where hardware should make a difference.... on an XPSp3 1Ghz, 512MB Ram, 2x AGP with those same 11
accounts it takes 28 seconds to open after a cold boot, 13 sec after close and open probably due to XP's Prefetch cache.

Re: Slow on startup, to read email, to check email, anything really

Does that include sign-in? On a restart of WLM, the main screen
comes up in 2 seconds, but the cursor continues to spin for
another 3 seconds.
System: Sony Vaio laptop, Intel Core 2 Duo CPU @1.5GHz, 2.5GB RAM,
currently booted to the Vista SP2 partition.
Not really a fair comparison since I have all the mail accounts
unchecked from "Include this account..."
I use the Vista partition mainly for newsgroups only (with WM), and
the Windows 7 partition is used with WLM for email.

Re: Slow on startup, to read email, to check email, anything really

Yes, that is total time......and your system is a bit more efficient in processor and memory speed, and most likely also on the
graphics chip.

Here the screen comes up in 2-3 seconds..then the cursor spins 5-6 seconds.

How many accounts do you have and how many contacts in the database(default or Live signin) ?

Re: Slow on startup, to read email, to check email, anything really

On the Vista partition (which is somewhat barebones) I have
3 POP accounts, 1 IMAP account, and 1 Hotmail DeltaSync account.
Using Live sign-in, 128 contacts.
