Cannot send or receive messages....anyone know why and how to fix

This is the error message I am getting every time I try to send a message. I
am receiving messages but all my email I try to send are going to my Outbox
and won't send. What's up with that?
Unable to send or receive messages for the Hotmail (XXXXXXXX) account. To

Re: Cannot send or receive messages....anyone know why and how to fix

Have you followed the suggestion for help from Windows Live Customer or Hotmail Support ?

Hotmail Support
Hotmail Online Solutions Center
- requires creation of a username/pw that will also be linked to a Live ID
- Live ID username is **Not** visible to the public
- Do **Not** use the same password for the Solution Center Account that's used for your Live ID

Windows Live ID Support
https://support.live.com/eform.aspx?...lid&ct=eformts
-Note: Some have had issues with the above link redirecting to the Help rather than the
e-form for support, if so....use the following link and procedure to access the e-form:
https://account.live.com/helpcentral...=en-us&lc=1033
1. Scroll to and click on 'How can I reset my password' or click any item in the Faq list
2. Look in the lower right and click on the option 'Get More Help'
3. Wait till the page loads, then click on 'Get Support'
- the eform should now load

Re: Cannot send or receive messages....anyone know why and how to

Yes and all it does is sign me into a different version of hotmail. I
currently run Windows Live Mail and it just signs me into the standard
hotmail account. I have checked all my settings and there seems to be no
reason for the error.... on my part anyway. One day it is working fine and
the next day it was all messed up.

Re: Cannot send or receive messages....anyone know why and how to

The error message you quoted in your OP was truncated for some
reason. The interesting bit got cut - could you post it again?
Meanwhile, have you tried removing the account, restarting WLMail
and then adding it back again?

Re: Cannot send or receive messages....anyone know why and how to

Thanks for verifying that you can access your account at mail.live.com.
Were you able to actually send and receive messages from that location
- ie. New messages should be present in the Inbox and a test message sent to you or a contact can be sent and received by you or
the recipient

If yes, then the issue should be local problem with WLM and/or the account in WLM ?

Noel, suggested(a good suggestion) removing the account in WLM and recreating the account. It's worth a try.

Can you also post the full and exact content of the error message ?
- sometimes that error message indicates the type of account and server pop3(pop3.live.com) or Http (DeltaSync)
- do not include your email address(xxx that item out).

- Note: If your Hotmail account is setup as a Pop3 account rather than an http account, it would be most appropriate to backup your
messages in WLM(File/Messages/Export or Copy messages to a new user created folder in WLM' Storage folders)before removing a pop3
account.
