| | Calendar reminders 2 hours off For some reason, my email calendar reminders are always 2 hours off. If I set an appointment for 6:30 I get an email telling me the appointment is at 4:30. I look at the calendar entry, it's still at 6:30. Is there a timezone setting somewhere I'm missing? I'm running Build 14.0.8064.0206. Any help appreciated |

| | Re: Calendar reminders 2 hours off Let me guess, you're in CST? The servers that hold the calendar are in Pacific time which would account for the 2 hour difference. The calendar however should respect your time zone. If you go to calendar.live.com then click on Options/More options you can set your time zone there. Make sure you have set it to the correct time zone. | | Re: Calendar reminders 2 hours off I experienced a related problem, when I travelled through different time zones. I live in the UK, where the local time is GMT (winter) or GMT +1 (daylight saving time). The time zone on the "calendar.live.com" server - and the zone on my laptop computer have been set correctly. The present date and time on my computer are also correct. I used my laptop during a recent visit to Australia and upon arrival, I selected the local time zone (GMT +11) on my computer. However, I did not change the settings on the central server at calendar.live.com. Whilst I was away from home, I needed to use WLMail to check a future event (which I had entered in the calendar, before I left the UK). I had not appreciated that if I changed the time zone on my computer, WLMail would display all of my existing entries as local time. It transpired that WLMail had shifted the times of all my UK appointments by 11 hours. Consequently, WLMail had moved one of my appointments from 8:00 pm (GMT) on a Tuesday evening to 7:00 am (NSW DST) on the Wednesday morning. By default, the WLMail calendar displays the page view for the selected month. In page view, the WLMail calendar indicated that the event would take place on the Wednesday - instead of the Tuesday. For the future, I intend to enter events using UTC timings, which will overcome this problem. However, I would prefer that WLMail leaves previous entries unchanged, when I travel through different time zones. | | Re: Calendar reminders 2 hours off Hi, Bob. An additional factor is that Microsoft's home office is in Redmond, Washington, USA, which is US Pacific Standard Time, GMT -0800, or Pacific Daylight Time, GMT -0700. So every Windows CD/DVD comes set to that time and must be reset to the user's time zone during or after running Setup. That also is why every post made via the web-based interface (to Microsoft Communities) shows up here with the Redmond time stamp. When you post from the UK or from Australia or I post from Texas, if we use the web interface, our address will show as "dmc" <dmc@xxxxxx>, like the original poster in this thread, and the time stamp will be like that post: Date: Wed, 22 Apr 2009 06:49:01 -0700. WLM converts that time stamp to the recipient's zone, so it shows in MY Message List as having been Sent at "4/23/2009 8:49 AM", which is Texas time. It will show a different "Sent" time in your UK computer. RC -- R. C.
