| | Junk Mail: Is it possible to completely disable it? I set up several email POP and Hotmail accounts recently and when WLM downloaded the messages from the different POP servers as well as Hotmail about 50% of my email was marked as junk. With accuracy like this its a wonder anyone in their right mind would ever use it. Certainly I don't want to. I get very little junk mail now so its no big deal. In WLM there seems to be Junk Mail options that will completely disable Junk Mail filtering. But in the options for my Hotmail accounts it looks like it can't be completely disabled. Just set to less aggressive filtering. I'm wonder if WLM's settings would override Hotmail's settings? |

I would think that would mean it doesn't filter for junk. But it just did. And of course it was wrong. This seems to be very broken. The only other solution I can think of is to have all email besides who's in my Safe Senders list sent to Junk Email and treat the Junk Email box like the Inbox. Surely there's a right way of doing this. |

And there is no junk filtering on that account. |

| | Re: Junk Mail: Is it possible to completely disable it? Hotmail servers perform junk mail filtering on messages received to the Hotmail server and prior to download to WLM(regardless of WLM using Pop3 or the http/DeltaSync protocol). Junk placed in the web interface Junk folder is not downloaded when Hotmail is configured to use pop3. If the DeltaSync server is used for the Hotmail account in WLM, the Junk folder is mirrored locally in WLM and one can review those messages(in WLM or online at mail.live.com). If not using DeltaSync, the only method to view the Junk Mail for a Hotmail account using pop3(in WLM) is to visit the web interface at mail.live.com. Hotmail accounts have different Junk filtering levels(and only configurable in the web interface > Options/More Options/Filters and Reporting - Low, Standard, and Exclusive are your choices. Thus for Hotmail accounts, configure the web interface properly and ensure that any sender of desired mail is included in your safe senders list in the Hotmail account's web interface. WLM filters come into play on Hotmail accounts if your Hotmail is using Pop3...ie..they will act after the Hotmail web interface and upon download to WLM...thus to prevent overzealous junk filter in WLM if using pop3 for a Hotmail account, ensure that those senders are also in your WLM's safe senders list. -- ...winston ms-mvp mail "Will" <reply_to_group@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:#VL9mT4xJHA.1372@xxxxxx Quote: > I set up several email POP and Hotmail accounts recently and when WLM downloaded the messages from the different POP servers as > well as Hotmail about 50% of my email was marked as junk. | | Re: Junk Mail: Is it possible to completely disable it? To get no filtering at all, you may have to turn anti-phishing off: Tools, Safety Options, Phishing, uncheck. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "Will" <reply_to_group@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:uierpo4xJHA.1372@xxxxxx Quote: Quote: >> I set up several email POP and Hotmail accounts recently and when WLM >> downloaded the messages from the different POP servers as well as Hotmail >> about 50% of my email was marked as junk. | | Re: Junk Mail: Is it possible to completely disable it? That was quite the reply. Thanks for clearing that up. It sure will benice when they get the filtering a little better. Right now its simply atrocious. Odd when the rest of WLM seems to be very well designed.
