Add-ons disabled in Internet Explorer

In order to browse this discussion group, ActiveX controls must be turned on.
Although I can acces them in IE when I start, as soon as I click the link
for this window in my Windows Live Mail, a bar appears saying "Internet
Explorer is currently running with add-ons disabled" I've search all help,
but nothing seems to apply. Microsoft says I can reset my IE settings, but I
will lose everything by doing so!
I suspect it's another beta mess in either Vista or Internet Explorer, but I
sure need help! Internet Express 7 in Vista SP1/WLM v 2009/

Only if you browse this "discussion group" using MS Internet Explorer. I
rarely use a browser with these groups. I set a news client to
'msnews.microsoft.com', and have had no trouble browsing these groups
(except in the rare case where the server was having problems).

Don't use a browser to access these groups. Windows Live Mail will do it
without "DestructiveX" at all.

N. Miller says "I set a news client to

I'm not certain I understand; I'd have to do that in the address bar of
Internet Explorer. Using "Favorites". Can you explain to this old dinosaur
what you refer to when you write "a news client" and how would I set that
up, please? You've been very helpful, thanks!
