Vista - Problem with Hotmail not connecting

Recently (the last couple of weeks I think) I've had a problem connecting to
my Hotmail account in WLM, it just says connecting but doesn't actually do
so, or takes such a long time that I stop it in the end. I'm not sure what
error message there is at it never seems to give up. Very often if I stop it
and try again it works, or I have to stop it, exit WLM and try again.
Connecting to Hotmail via webmail is ok.
I'm using Vista Home Premium, and the latest WLM. Thanks.

Is Hotmail your only email account?
Are you also logging in to Windows Live?

No it's not my only one, I also have an Orange/Freeserve account, and Gmail.
But the problem is with Hotmail, it gets stuck when it gets to the Hotmail
account. Not always but sometimes. Yes I sometimes login to Windows
Live/hotmail on the web, and that's ok.

Same problem. I start WLM and it gets my mail from all accounts except
Windows Live accounts. It was fine till couple of days ago. If I go in to
these accounts directly through Explorer I get in with no problem. I'm using
Vista Home Premium. When I try checking for updates from the WLM Help menu it
goes through all the steps then tells me I'm not logged on as an
administrator. I'm the only user, I am the administrator.

WLM is not capable at this time of accessing updates via MU. Also, no updates have been issued for WLM 2009(version 14)

The option to receive WLM was pushed as an optional update.

Explorer or Internet Explorer ? (ie.. access your Live ID accounts via IE7 or IE8)

Is IE8 installed ? If so, does the problem occur if IE8 is removed.

I have the same problem. It started just like 1-2 months ago and only for
hotmail. This is really annoying!

Please start a new thread and provide the complete error message, Windows Live Mail version, operating system(and service pack
level) and browser/version
