Number of "messages" not relating to actual number

The bottom bar shows 49 messages, 0 unread. In fact there are only 14
messages in my inbox! It hasn't reset itself in over 4 days now! How does
the bottom bar get fixed to show actual number of messages in my Inbox?

Re: Number of "messages" not relating to actual number

I had the same problem and I think the "invisible" emails are the ones
deleted from the bulk mail folder: they'll disappear after about one week.
Cheers,
Steffo

Are you using Quick Views?

Re: Number of "messages" not relating to actual number

Not really using Quick Views; discovered there were 3 messages in it earlier
today that should have made it to my INBOX but didn't! So I opened them and
found they were mail I had been searching for! 2009 WLM is a mess, as far as
I'm concerned.
As for GbH, if you'd understood Steffo's reply, he mentions Bulk Mail, which
I don't know about!

There are no messages in Quick views.
Did you run the repair that Michael mentioned?
In this thread you say Inbox. In a another thread, you mention Inboxes.
How many Inboxes do you have?
Do you have any message rules?

I didn't understand Steffo's reply, that was part of the problem, I'm
not very familiar with webmail but I think yahoo or maybe its AOL has a
'bulk mail'. In which case should the OP not be to the hotmail NG.
Other part of the problem I don't think I'm getting delray's posts, I
found yahoo.com in my blocked senders list, so I suspect they're getting
blocked.
I've removed that entry from BS and DLd all messages but cannot see any.

I'll qualify that I found 1 under 'buzz' (23/4/9) but that might've been
there before I edited BS

Re: Number of "messages" not relating to actual number

Mike, I sort of ignored your recommendation initially, since I don't use
Quick Views often. HOWEVER, I clicked the link you included, and there was
something concerning deleting RSS feeds, and that may indeed be when my
problem started! I deleted about 16 outdated feeds I had not opened, since
they downloaded when I signed up a few days ago. Lo and behold, therer
appeared about 18 RSS feeds from the same address, which I then deleted. That
may be when I discovered numbers were not corelating with actual messages,
and mail was not appearing in WLM from my comcast.net account.
Your link for Repairing WLM Quick Views Counter starts to make sense, and I
thank you, but printing it is a real problem as it prints a black page
(Goodby new ink cartridge) with illegible white text! I've tried cut and
paste, select all, etc. I need your advice again on how to print it so I can
follow it! Which brings me to...Do I dare mess with my registry? I have
Registry Mechanic running, but am nervous about doing a Regedit myself! At
81, this technical age is running away from me!
Thank you for all your help!
