Uninstalled Sign In Assistant and now have sign in problems

XP Pro, SP3

WLM: Version 2009 (Build 14.0.8064.0206)

Had too much time on my hands and started reading that the update for
WLM sign in assistant (SIA)was only needed if you had the original file.
The newer version of WLM did not require SIA. Like a fool, as I HAD the
newer version, I uninstalled SIA.

On a re-boot, when I opened WLM I was asked for my password. Entered PW
and ticked "Remember password". Job done I thought but each re-boot
presented the same thing when opening WLM.

Did a system restore to before SIA uninstall but problem persists.

Have 3 Windows Live IDs:

@btinternet.com
@hotmail.com
@live.co.uk

Tried signing in as a different user with all three and no problem
logging on. The drop down box contains all three log in options but NOT
after re-boot.

Have tried unticking/reticking "Remember password" but it's not
remembered. Always used to sign in to my @btinternet.com (default)
address automatically.

By the way, this is not a CCleaner problem.

Any ideas?

In an effort to correct above problem, I have removed Windows Live Synch
and Windows Live Upload Tool. These are not offered again in MS Update
(custom).

Also, with all programs closed, when I click on Windows Live Essentials
in Add/Remove in an attempt to Change/Repair, no dialogue box appears.
It initially goes a lighter shade of grey and then reverts to dark grey.

Sign In Assistant is showing in Add/Remove as is Office Live Add-In 1.3.
Do I need to uninstall everything before I can change/repair the core
programs?

Using Windows Install Clean Up Utility, I zapped Mail and Messenger. I
then reinstalled. This enabled me to finally open Live Essentials in
Add/Remove and run a repair on all programs.

Thanks very much for all your help!
