| | Full Text Search Issue I installed the Windows Search 4.0 (KB940157) option to enable full text searching in my messages, and while it no longer advises me to do so (install Windows Search 4.0 to enable full text search), it does NOT do a full text search of the messages - it still *only* searches in the Subject line. What is wrong &/or how do I correct this? I am using Windows Live Mail v2009 (Build 14.0.8064.0206). Thank you! |

You have to point out your Message Store to it (e.g. as a collection of *.nws and .eml files) In contrast it does know about OE so there is no mention from WS about how it is finding all OE's messages in its .dbx files, just that it is, plus the evidence that it is from having searches work which return .nws and .eml files from there. ; ) Good luck Robert Aldwinckle --- Quote: > > I am using Windows Live Mail v2009 (Build 14.0.8064.0206). > > Thank you! |

| | Re: Full Text Search Issue Ok, I see the Email & Location options in WS, but I don't see where (in either WLMail or WS) to actually set any message or email location. In honesty, I haven't been very impressed with WS and actually uninstalled it a while back as I just didn't see any advantages with it over the basic Windows Search tool. --- Adam "Robert Aldwinckle" wrote: Quote: > > > "Adam G. | | Re: Full Text Search Issue Ok, I found it. Thank you. (I still think this is a basic feature that should have been built in to WLMail from the beginning, not requiring a separate add-on - overall, I find WS astoundingly lacking in every aspect and would keep it uninstalled were it not for this requirement. VERY poor programming & design, IMPO) "Adam G. VERY poor programming & design, IMPO) Both products provide poor usability for searching threads IMO. I usually find Ctrl-Shift-F sufficient for my searching needs. I don't like the filter effect that WLMail displays when its search bar is used and would definitely rather have the Shift-F3 Find and F3 Find again navigation functions that OE provides instead.
