| Vista Home Premium 64bit | Windows Live mail loses default and fails to load Everytime I attempt to open Windows Live Mail it fails to load. When I attempt to open it, it shows the pause icon to note that a program is loading, but that goes away after a few seconds and nothing happens. If I go to program defaults, in custom setup, and I check Windows Live mail as the default, hit OK, and exit, it will load one time. But when I attempt to go back and reopen Windows Live Mail, it does the same thing and fails to load until I again go back and set it as default. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Windows Live Mail three times and it is always the same. This is getting old .. Can someone please help? Thank You ... Nick |

| | Re: Windows Live mail loses default and fails to load I can't tell from your post if WLMail has ever loaded correctly or if this is a new install. It may also be helpful to know your operating system. -- Ron Sommer "escujuri" <guest@xxxxxx-email.com> wrote in message news:0ff075494a0e27752fd3791409de5351@xxxxxx-gateway.com... | Vista Home Premium 64bit | Re: Windows Live mail loses default and fails to load When it does load it loads correctly and works just fine, except that each time I exit WLM and attempt to go back I have to go into program defaults and set it as the default again, otherwise it will not load. |

Sounds like you are giving us your difficulties with using your prescription for repairing some imprecise symptoms. E.g. what exactly does "fails to load" entail? Have you tried changing that symptom in any other way than by using the Set Program Access and Defaults tool? OTOH do you have another mail and news client which actually does take over the defaults? In that case there obviously would be a clearer justification for what you are doing. But it really should make no difference about whether you can just open WLMail or not. E.g. I have OE set as my default for both functions and I can still load WLMail and use it just fine. Note that really the only significant difference there should be from using that is what happens if you try to open files which have extensions associated with its filetypes. So, for example, does "fails to load" affect what happens if you try to open a saved E-Mail (e.g. an .eml file) or a saved News post (e.g. a .nws file)? If not, I think you should revise your symptom description accordingly, start an analysis of it and be prepared to find a more appropriate method of changing how WLMail is working for you. ; ) Good luck Robert Aldwinckle --- |
