Live mail contacts problem

My wife is having a problem with her contact list. The contact list is
disappearing when she uses Live mail. She does not have a live id to log
into.
The contacts are visible in a directory on the hard drive and I can add
them. The
only problem being that they do not stay. The next time she goes to send an
e-mail to someone they are not there..... Of course I get blamed because I
updated the live mail program. The version is Version 2009 (Build
14.0.8064.0206)
How can I stop this from happening,,,,,

Re: Live mail contacts problem

You may be looking in the wrong directory.

If you are using Vista, it has its own contacts which Windows Live Mail
(WLM) does not use. The Windows Mail (WM) that comes with Vista does
use those contacts.

If you had WLM build 12.xxxx installed, it had a contacts folder with
individual files for each contact. When you install build 14.xxxx that
contacts folder remains, but is no longer used.

Build 14.xxxx uses monolithic EDB files that contain all the contacts.
You can't update it except through WLM.

Re: Live mail contacts problem

The current and supported version of WLM(2009, version 14) does not permit viewing contacts in Windows Explorer. All contacts are
in a single hidden compressed database file(contacts.edb). Only WLM and WLMsgr(version 2009) can access and properly display the
contents.
