| Guest | Imported Mail From Vista Window Mail Has "" or <> Around 'From' Address I just imported all of my old mail from my Vista Windows Mail. In the list of the emails, all of the imported mail has either quotes ("") or braces (<>) around the "From" address. The new email I receive is normal w/o these extra characters. The preview pane does not show these extra characters. It makes it impossible for me to sort my new mail by "From" address to see my other email from the same source. Is there a way to remove thse from the imported mail (or perform the import differently)? Thanks. |

| Guest | Re: Imported Mail From Vista Window Mail Has "" or <> Around 'From' Address What version of WLMail are you using? If you drag such an e-mail out of WLMail and into a folder on your Desktop, a copy of that e-mail will be created in that folder. Now drag that e-mail back onto the WLMail interface into a folder of your choosing. You should find that the From field for that e-mail becomes normalised. When satisfied, you can delete the original e-mail. -- Cheers, Peter.R (Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 with IE7 & Windows Live Mail 2009 14.0.8064.0206) "There are more things in Heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy." - Shakespeare "Tom Darlington" <TomDarlington@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:ECAFA3AA-4431-4F31-9995-3BC35E5044B1@xxxxxx Quote: > I just imported all of my old mail from my Vista Windows Mail. > In the list of the emails, all of the imported mail has either quotes ("") > or braces (<>) around the "From" address. > The new email I receive is normal w/o these extra characters. > The preview pane does not show these extra characters. > > It makes it impossible for me to sort my new mail by "From" address to see > my other email from the same source. > > Is there a way to remove these from the imported mail (or perform the import > differently)? > > Thanks. |

| Guest | Re: Imported Mail From Vista Window Mail Has "" or <> Around 'From' Address Version 2009 (Build 14.0.8064.0206). What you suggested works. I found an even easier way based on what you suggested. Export a mail folder, delete the contents and then drag all of the exported files back in. Unfortunately Import places them in my Inbox, not the specific folder I want. Thanks. | Guest | Re: Imported Mail From Vista Window Mail Has "" or <> Around 'From' Address I just tried it again. You are right it did not place the imported mail into my Inbox. It created a new Imported Mail (1) folder in the Storage Folder area, but the folder is empty. So, it does not seem like import works very well. At least drag and drop works !!!
