| | More control of Sync? In WLMail I sometimes want to send off a quick message without having to think about fending off incoming spam (I use MailWasher Pro to pre-filter that). Is there a workaround that could give me the equivalent of WinMail's "Send all" I have eight email accounts and like to handle most procedures from Quick views. Is there any way of getting a grip on the Sync process? This process is also short on feedback - press it and the display doesn't react at all, unless you happen to be looking at the Outbox, in my case hidden away below the bottom of the screen. Something like "Sending..." then "All sent" or a progress bar would be useful. Perhaps I am missing something? Doug |

| | Re: More control of Sync? No, the 'Send All' feature has been taken away from us in this latest WLM version. Further evidence that the development program is being run by bubble gum chewing youngsters who can barely be persuaded to look up occasionally from their text messaging. :-) -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "Doug" <doug@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:%23fWEYEgAKHA.1488@xxxxxx Quote: > In WLMail I sometimes want to send off a quick message without having to > think about fending off incoming spam (I use MailWasher Pro to pre-filter > that). | | Re: More control of Sync? With the current version of WLM, if you want to be able to send an e-mail without also receiving any new mail you'd need to use the option Tools, Options, Send, Send Immediately. Then when you click the Send button in the message composition window the message will be written to the Outbox and WLM then immediately try to send that message to the mail server. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Doug" <doug@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:#fWEYEgAKHA.1488@xxxxxx Quote: > In WLMail I sometimes want to send off a quick message without having > to think about fending off incoming spam (I use MailWasher Pro to > pre-filter that). | | Re: More control of Sync? That's fine, Michael - unless you happen to be in the middle of a scheduled sync when you press Send. Without exhaustive testing, I think this will relegate the Send to the beginning of the *next* scheduled sync, which might be half an hour later. Not good. -- Noel "Michael Santovec" <michael_santovec@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:uzFgnNlAKHA.4432@xxxxxx Quote: > With the current version of WLM, if you want to be able to send an > e-mail without also receiving any new mail you'd need to use the > option Tools, Options, Send, Send Immediately. | | Re: More control of Sync? Doug, You are not missing anything.. Here are the available options in WLM Send and Receive in Windows Live Mail 2009 http://liveunplugged.spaces.live.com...90CA!644.entry I like others, prefer a Send Only command for email like I have in Outlook 03/07. Newsgroups...for me it's not significant issue...since I'm more inclined to not send things immediately, letting them accumulate, occasionally rereading for accuracy then sending them all at once. -- ...winston ms-mvp mail "Doug" <doug@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:#fWEYEgAKHA.1488@xxxxxx Quote: > In WLMail I sometimes want to send off a quick message without having to think about fending off incoming spam (I use MailWasher > Pro to pre-filter that). | | Re: More control of Sync? Thanks, Mike, though I am uncomfortable with Send Immediately, preferring time for a reflective review of my Outbox. Sometimes I then see what I really should have written ... or why it might be better not send it at all. WLMail seems to have been too much influenced by the IM approach to life. | | Re: More control of Sync? Winston Thanks for that useful link. It is disappointing to have it confirmed that WLMail, while likeable, is hobbled with this particular shortcoming. I shall use it for the time being but I fear it may get me into trouble eventually. | | Re: More control of Sync? I suppose that's possible. Personally I never use the scheduled synch. As the original posted wanted to be able to send with doing a receive, presumably he's not using the schedule synch either. That said, it would be nice if the developers put back the Send only option. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Ildhund" <jnllb@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:uTq5S4lAKHA.4016@xxxxxx Quote: > That's fine, Michael - unless you happen to be in the middle of a > scheduled sync when you press Send.
