Windows Mail

For some reason a recent windows update has given me a problem opening attachments. I can't seem to be able to open any type of attachemnt now.

I went into the mail options tool and un-checked the do not allow attachments to be saved or opened. That doesn't work . they still will not open or allow me to save them. I see others wre having this problem. What is the fix??

Re: Windows Mail

Is it Windows Mail or Windows LIVE Mail? They are different programs.
If unsure look at Help, About.

This newsgroup is for Windows LIVE Mail.

For help with the Vista Windows Mail (WM) program, use this Newsgroup:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsof...ows.vista.mail

You can also get to the newsgroup via this web site:
http://www.microsoft.com/communities...s/default.mspx
There select Windows Vista, then Windows Mail.

Are you getting any error message when you try to open or save
attachments?

What specific file attachments are you having problems with? e.g. DOC,
JPG, PPS, etc.?

What version of Windows are you running?

What version of IE do you have installed?

Re: Windows Mail

Michael are you still there? I'm running Windows Vista Home Basic 32bit
Windows Mail. I have ie8 loaded currently. When I try to do, save as on an attchment is gives me .. Command failed to execute. When I try to open an attachment nothing happens.

Do I have to unistall IE8. Or reinstall Windows Mail?? Isn't this a big problem for other folks?? Not sure why it suddenly stopped working? Please advise..

Can someone give me a some direction here. Can I run IE7 with Vista. Does Microsoft have a fix for IE8? Is that the software that is broken??
